Activity Update 2019

SHAP has been busy briefing policy and decision-makers on the research published last year and summarised in our report TURNING HOUSING INTO HOMES FIT FOR 2050 SHAP Research Summary Report February 2019.

A wide range of SHAP members and stakeholders have been involved in consultations and working groups that emerged from the research Task and Finish Groups and research dissemination activities.

The SHAP new build healthy homes performance standard has fed into the Birmingham City Council Health Impact Assessment toolkit; into the West Midlands Health and Planning Group discussions on principles for health and well-being in new housing developments; into the West Midlands Combined Authority Design Charter, due to be published shortly.

The work on the development of a West Midlands Model for financing the refurbishment of existing homes to address fuel poverty and energy efficiency targets has fed into the Energy Capital and West Midlands Combined Authority work to develop a new fuel poverty programme to be trialed in the West Midlands.
